Latest High Court Appointments

7 October 2020

Judicial Office has today announced the appointment of Judge Emma Arbuthnot as a High Court Judge, following an open competition run by the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC).

Emma is currently the Chief Magistrate for England and Wales, a role she has held since 2016. The JAC will launch a selection exercise to identify the next Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) later this autumn, with a view to having a successor in place by Spring 2021. The role will be advertised on our website.

This is the fifth announcement of High Court Judge appointments this year, with 11 new High Court Judges announced to date. There will be more High Court appointments over the coming months.
