Lady Justice Carr DBE was appointed as Vice Chairman of the JAC on 20 August 2020. She has served as a judge of the Court of Appeal since April 2020. She was called to the Bar in 1987 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2003. In 2009 Lady Justice Carr was appointed a Crown Court Recorder. She was chair of the Bar Standards Board Conduct Committee between 2008 and 2010 before becoming Complaints Commissioner to the International Criminal Court in the Hague and head of her chambers. In June 2013 she was appointed a High Court Judge, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division. She was a member of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal between 2014 and 2016 and a Presiding Judge of the Midland Circuit between 2016 and 2019. Lady Justice Carr is also a governing Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
