Depending on the role you may be asked to submit written evidence with your application. This will be clearly detailed on the vacancy details page.
Competency frameworks and self-assessment
For many roles, you’ll need to complete a self-assessment using a competency framework. This is to assess whether you can do the job effectively.
You’ll need to show that you either already have the required skills or can develop them quickly.
In October 2025, JAC introduced a new, unified framework. This means that for a period of time, candidates may be assessed against one of two different frameworks, depending on when your selection exercise began.
Each competency framework is tailored to the role and includes input from people who currently do the job or understand what it involves.
You can find the relevant competency framework on the information page for each selection exercise.
