External review on neuroinclusive judicial recruitment – executive summary

A review into the latest research and best practice in supporting neurodivergent candidates through selection processes, so that this can be practically applied within the JAC's context.

Summary of the JAC qualifying test research project

This research looks at the reasons for differential outcomes observed for some candidate groups on the JAC’s qualifying test, the first stage selection tool used for large selection exercises.  

Judicial diversity in common law jurisdictions outside of England and Wales

The project, run by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) and commissioned in May 2021, looks into measures used by other common law jurisdictions to improve judicial diversity, in order to better understand if any of these could be successful in England and Wales.

JAC response to the review of the operation of Statutory Consultation

This provides the JAC's response to the independent review of statutory consultation, delivered by the Work Psychology Group.

The review has found that that evidence-based statutory consultation can support the selection panel in assessing candidates and that there is no direct evidence that the statutory consultation process impacts disproportionately on recommendations for appointment for any group.
